Threod Systems has unveiled the Eos D ISTAR, to bring laser designation to lightweight VTOL UAS.
Get in touchThreod Systems unveiled the Eos D at Eurosatory 2026, combining its full-electric VTOL aircraft with the eOpic-6 ISTAR payload to bring laser designation and reconnaissance capability into a lightweight unmanned aircraft system. The system is intended for tactical units that need airborne target confirmation and designation without relying solely on larger crewed or uncrewed platforms.
The Eos D builds on Threod’s existing Eos C VTOL reconnaissance platform, the sensor and software experience. The eOpic-6 ISTAR payload’s laser designation capability has been tested and validated with a range of NATO guided projectiles, while the system is designed to support interoperability with allied forces.
With the eOpic-6 ISTAR payload, the platform is intended to support reconnaissance, target acquisition, laser designation and fire-support tasks. In operational terms, it gives smaller tactical units a compact platform for observing an area of interest, confirming targets and supporting designation from the air, while allowing trained crews to operate further from direct threat exposure.
