by on

Estonian defence technology company Threod Systems has appointed Reio Orasmäe as Chief Sales Officer, effective 7 September. Orasmäe, currently a Business Development Manager at Tesco in the UK, will return to Estonia to lead Threod’s international sales as the company expands its defence-sector partnerships and presence in various markets.

Orasmäe brings extensive experience in international technology sales and business development, having held roles at Tesco, Cleveron and Bercman Technologies, and co-founded Grab2Go. He has led complex technical sales, built sales organisations and developed long-term customer relationships across multiple markets.

The appointment follows a period of increased international activity for Threod Systems. Earlier this year, the UK Ministry of Defence selected Threod’s Cata launcher system for British Army ASGARD One-Way Effector Programme. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabian defence company First Shield and has worked with Greek drone manufacturer S.A.S. Technology and Thales on the development of an unmanned precision-strike system.

“Threod has reached a stage where the systematic development of international sales and strategic partnerships is becoming increasingly important to our next phase of growth,” said Marta Piigli, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Threod Systems.

“We are already working with established defence companies and national ministries of defence. Reio brings experience in developing international technology sales, building customer relationships and creating the commercial structures required to support growth across multiple markets. His role will be to deepen existing partnerships while helping us open new opportunities internationally.”

Reio Orasmäe said the position combines his experience in selling technical products with responsibility for developing an international sales organisation.

“What attracted me to Threod is the opportunity to work with advanced technology in a sector where customer requirements, long-term partnerships, and international cooperation are critical to sustainable growth,” said Orasmäe.

“My focus will be on building a structured international sales operation, strengthening relationships with existing customers and partners, and developing opportunities in new markets.”

Threod Systems develops and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition solutions, and launcher systems for one-way effectors and target drones. The company has delivered its products to 27 countries, including 14 NATO member states and Ukraine.
